Boro Under-21s were beaten 2-0 by Newcastle United at Heritage Park on Friday.
The visitors broke the deadlock on the half-hour mark. Sean Neave was awarded a penalty after being brought down inside the area. Neave stepped up to take the spot-kick and calmly converted.
Straight after the restart at the start of the second half, Ben Parkinson doubled the Magpies' lead when he found the bottom corner from an Alfie Harrison pass.
Mark Tinkler’s side are back at the Riverside next Sunday when they take on Southampton in the PL2.
