Bio

A Birmingham lad, Alex joined West Bromwich Albion’s Academy as an Under-9.

His nine goals for West Brom’s Under-18s included one against Boro in the FA Youth Cup in early 2020.

After declining professional terms with the Baggies, he transferred to Brentford in September 2020, becoming part of their B team.

Alex was part of a bit of history at Brentford when he netted two goals in what was the final-ever fixture at Griffin Park, the second a stunning effort from outside the box in a 6-3 friendly win over Erith Town.

Alex’s first-team debut for Brentford was against Boro, a third round FA Cup tie in January 2021 which the Bees won 2-1. He wasn’t the only debutant, with Hayden Hackney making his first start and Isaiah Jones coming off the bench for the Teessiders.

In August 2021, Alex joined Swindon Town on loan. He made a total of 12 appearances, eight in League Two, for the Robins before returning to his parent club.

Ahead of the 2022/23 season, Alex was named captain of Brentford’s B team.

He scored a total of 16 goals, eight in the Bees’ successful Premier League Cup campaign, which included a sweet left-footed strike to knock Boro out of the competition, and clocked up eight assists, and was named the B team Player of the Year.

Alex has been capped by the Republic of Ireland at Under-19 and Under-21 level.

The Birmingham lad joined Boro in the summer of 2023 after his contract ended with Brentford.

The midfielder made 15 appearances in all competitions in his first season.

Alex grabbed his first goal for the club on the penultimate game of the season away at Cardiff, when he scored our fourth goal on the day. Earlier in the match the 22-year-old also recorded his third assist of the season.
