Bio
Abby Towers first started playing football at 7 years old, at Brazilian Soccer Schools where she adopted her tricky nature and was dubbed as Abby 'Tricky' Towers before joining her first club, Boldon CA Girls.
A centre midfielder in her early career Abby was later pushed back into defence where she would find her form as a ball-playing centre-back.
At the age of 11 she joined Sunderland Academy until the age of 16, when her speedy development earned her a spot in Sunderland Ladies' first team before a short loan to South Shields Ladies.
Abby earned her place in the England pathway at 13, making her debut against Belgium at the age of 15 in a 2-2 draw.
Abby joined Middlesbrough on a short stint before re-joining Sunderland Ladies where she made her debut in the Barclay's Women's Championship before an ACL injury cut her season short.
After her injury, Abby re-joined Boro and has been a mainstay in the defence ever since.
